Happy New Year!

It is the new year which means new resolutions and trying to actually hit them.

I'm continuing studying my Linux, haven't been as active cause of the holidays but I'm locking back in. In more Linux news I'm using Rufus at the moment to get a bootable USB for CachyOS.

I've wanted to try out dual boot back in college but was just to lazy too. Then Microsoft lost their mind with all this AI nonsense that I think it's best I just start daily driving Linux at this point. I'm still going to have Windows for any software I made need it for or games with anti-cheat that don't play nice with Linux

Another Company I'm switching up on is Google. For a couple years I've been paying for Google One to get some cloud storage and more emails space. Right now I have local backups to a Synology at home (Another company I no longer care for, will complain about that in a second) cloud backups are mad expense. I can see why customers deny paying for them lol. Back to Google, they also are on the AI train but what I reeeeally don't like is them using the AI to look through your email and docs for training. I got the Proton Suite to replace Google so will see how that goes so far setup has been painless and I got the gundamdg.net domain added so some sites I think I'm going to consolidate to that domain. In the future I would like to use a cloud backup service but for now my Synology will do.

Which segways me into my next company to complain about Synology. Its old news at this point but when they announced going forward their NAS appliances will REQUIRE their brand HDDs https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/nas/synology-requires-self-branded-drives-for-some-consumer-nas-systems-drops-full-functionality-and-support-for-third-party-hdds. I was instantly no longer interested in them as a company. Which sucks cause they make a good product (minus them releasing models without an integrated GPU but I digress). I do wish I could go back in time and just tell my past self just to make a homemade server like I have now. Would have saved money and time lol.
